Curriculum Permissions Policies
General Permissions for Print Editions of Quarterly Curriculum Resources
Printed Teacher/Leader Books
- Content (including text and artwork) provided in David C Cook curriculum may not be resold, extracted, and/or reused in other materials without the express written permission of David C Cook.
- Permission is granted to reproduce pages specifically marked as reproducible in print format for church classroom or small group use only—not for resale.
- No other pages may be duplicated without the express written permission of David C Cook.
Printed Student Books, Take Homes, and Posters
- No pages or sheets may be duplicated without the express written permission of David C Cook.
Audio Tracks (Songs, Skits, Music Activities, etc.)
- Permission is granted to reproduce tracks for church classroom or small group use only—not for resale.
Sharing Content Online
- You have permission to share or repost—on YouTube only—any curriculum videos that are provided as part of the David C Cook quarterly curriculum you have purchased, but you do not have permission to post the videos on social media.
- You may post or livestream your teaching based on these materials on a closed church-owned website, a closed Facebook group, or on a closed YouTube channel administered by a member of your church staff. A closed website, Facebook page, or YouTube channel is one that requires a password for entry and is not freely accessible by the general public.
- Permission to post each quarter of curriculum on the aforementioned media services expires as listed below.
- Fall (September–October) videos, lessons, and resources expire February 28.
- Winter (December–February) videos, lessons, and resources expire May 31.
- Spring (March–May) videos, lessons, and resources expire August 31.
- Summer (June–August) videos, lessons, and resources expire October 31.
If your planned curriculum use necessitates an extension beyond the posting expiration dates listed above, please submit a request to our permissions team. They will respond with an extension for any reasonable period.

General Permissions for Digital Download Editions of Quarterly Curriculum Resources
- Content (including text and artwork) provided in David C Cook curriculum may not be resold, extracted, and/or reused in other materials without the express written permission of David C Cook.
- Each digital downloaded file is intended to be used for printing classroom copies and use on a single computer or your teacher’s mobile devices only.
- The single-use digital download edition, which includes digital files of each product for the age level, is limited to use for 1 teacher and 10 students at a single site. If you have more than 1 teacher, please order the multiuse edition.
- The multiuse digital download edition, which includes digital files of each product for that age level, is for multiple teachers at a single site. You may print files, project files, email files, or share them using password-protected links.
- Digital download editions cannot be returned, sold, or relicensed.
- Digital download edition licenses are good for 6 months. After 6 months, you will need to purchase another license.
- Digital download editions are subject to the End User License Agreement (EULA) found at DavidCCook.org/eula/ and any additional terms or restrictions that may accompany the product.

If you are interested in translating our quarterly curriculum resources into another language, please submit a request to our permissions team. If approved, we will issue a license to you. Please note that use of open-source AI for translation is not allowed. Many AI tools store or learn from any content you type or copy/paste into them. Our quarterly curriculum resources are protected by copyright, and using open-source AI to translate them puts our content at risk of being shared and used in ways that we do not allow.

- No other pages may be duplicated without the express written permission of David C Cook.
Sharing Content Online

- Permission to post each teaching on the aforementioned media services expires three months after the scheduled teaching. If your planned use necessitates an extension beyond this, please submit a request to our permissions team. They will respond with an extension for any reasonable period.
If you are interested in translating material from Standard Lesson Commentary (“SLC”) into another language, please submit a request to our permissions team. If approved, we will issue a license to you. Please note that use of open-source AI for translation is not allowed. Many AI tools store or learn from any content you type or copy/paste into them. Our SLC products are protected by copyright, and using open-source AI to translate them puts our content at risk of being shared and used in ways that we do not allow.
David C Cook Permissions Policies for Books and Other Resources
General Permissions for Books
If you would like to quote or use an excerpt from a book published by David C Cook, please refer to the guidelines below. This will help you determine whether you need written permission from us. If your intended use does not meet all of the conditions below, you must complete the DCC Permission Request Form. If your request is approved, we will send written permission to you using the contact information provided. A license fee may apply in some cases, depending on the extent of the use.
You may quote or use a brief excerpt from one of our books without written permission, provided ALL of the following conditions are met:
- The book must currently be available for sale on our website (https://shop.davidccook.org/). If the book is out of print, rights may have reverted to the author and we may no longer be able to grant permission.
- The excerpt is 300 words or less and does not exceed more than 10% of the total content in which it appears.
- The use is strictly non-commercial – e.g. personal blogs, educational settings, reviews, or academic papers.
- No images or illustrations are included. This policy applies to written text only and does not grant permission to reproduce any artwork.
Please include the following or similar credit language where the excerpt appears:
[Title] © [YEAR] [AUTHOR]. Used by permission of David C Cook. May not be further reproduced. All rights reserved.
General Permissions for The Action Bible and Related Products
For all permission requests related to The Action Bible (“TAB”) illustrated by Sergio Cariello, or a related TAB-branded product, please note the following:
- No permission is granted to reproduce TAB artwork on posters, displays, etc.
- No permission is granted to incorporate TAB artwork into other works such as church curriculum.
- No permission is granted to record and post readings showing illustrations on YouTube or social media.
- Any reproducible TAB resources such as coloring pages can be shared according to the guidelines in the product.

General Permissions for Bibles
David C Cook does not hold the copyright for any Bible translations (e.g., NIV, ESV). If you are seeking permission to reproduce or quote Scripture text from a Bible we have published, you will need to contact the appropriate copyright holder directly. This information is usually listed within the first few pages at the front of the Bible. Most Bible publishers also provide helpful permissions guidelines on their websites.

If you are seeking permission to use other resources published by David C Cook that have not been addressed in another section on this page, please fill out the DCC Permission Request Form. If your request is approved, we will send written permission to you using the contact information provided. The more details you provide, the more quickly we can respond.
For International Book Publishers and Global Distribution Partners
If you are interested in translating any of our books or other resources into another language, or if you would like to distribute our content in a specific country or region, please fill out the request form linked below and our Licensing Team will reach out to you. Upon review and approval, we will issue the appropriate license to support your translation or distribution efforts.
