Brian Mitchell joined David C Cook as chief marketing officer in 2024. He has extensive media industry experience, beginning in 1986 with radio broadcast roles, followed by nearly two decades of executive leadership positions at Provident/Sony and Capitol/Universal, including general manager of Essential Records, developing artists such as Jars of Clay and Third Day.
While serving as vice president of marketing at Thomas Nelson Publishers/HarperCollins, Brian led several imprints to garner multiple New York Times‘ bestsellers from authors such as William J. Bennett, Michael Savage, Denise Jackson and Ed McMahon.
As Big Idea Entertainment/DreamWorks Animation’s vice president of marketing and licensing for the VeggieTales® brand, he grew revenue from more than 50 licensees, led marketing initiatives and contributed to product development for live tours, television, films, records, and home entertainment episodic releases.
During his decade-long tenure at WTA Media, Brian served in numerous roles leading up to his most recent role as president of the division after its acquisition by Educational Media Foundation, parent company of of K-LOVE and Air1 radio networks. His leadership extended to guiding its literary agency with many bestselling authors and writers, including ECPA Book of the Year, Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. Brian also contributed his marketing expertise to theatrical, home video, and digital distribution campaigns for top-grossing films such as Heaven Is For Real, War Room, and I Can Only Imagine.
Brian and his wife, Kimberley, live in Franklin, Tenn. and have four adult children.
